The Kerby Centre of Excellence was established in 2002. It is the first community based research and education centre in Alberta targeted at older adults.
The mandate of the centre is to:
- Conduct research into healthy and successful aging.
- Support the advancement of knowledge in the field of successful aging.
A founding principle of the Centre of Excellence is that older adults should be partners in research and ultimately in building policies that result from the research. The goal of the Centre is to promote successful aging and to ensure that older adults themselves have a role in gerontology research.
